Popular Floats

  • The most popular float is from Mager’s Crossing to our campground. This float typically takes about 2-3 hours. You can walk or drive the ½ mile to the crossing to float back to camp!

  • The second most popular float starts from Camp Riverview and ends at Seven Bluff Crossing. This float can take 3-6 hours.

What do I need to float the Frio River?

For a fun and safe experience floating the Frio River, you’ll need a few things:

  • Tube or Float: You can either rent these from outfitters near places like Camp Riverview, or you can bring your own. Many choose to have a second float for their cooler.
  • Sun Protection: Eco-friendly Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and light clothing are essential to protect against the strong Texas sun.
  • Water Shoes: Useful for protecting your feet from potentially rough river bottoms and rocks.
  • Cooler: Bring along beverages and snacks, but remember, glass and styrofoam are not permitted on or in the river.
  • Dry Bag or Waterproof Container: This will keep your valuables, such as your car keys and cell phone, dry.
  • Life Jacket: These are particularly important for those not strong in swimming or for children.
